‘SHLV Bega has supported many women and children to stay in their own homes but we have also brought to the attention of the NSW Government our concerns that a statewide integrated domestic violence system, with strong leadership coming from the top as well as from the field, is necessary to ensure a broad, safe and consistent program of support to women and children staying in their homes.

 

This will require new specific domestic violence legislation, new Police Domestic Violence Standing Operating Procedures, and a whole-of-government management structure to drive effective integration. We have been impressed by the integration programs in the ACT, Tasmania and Victoria. We have urged the NSW Government to adopt a similar program.’
